CONGRESO INTERNACIONAL: “KANT Y EL CRITICISMO. PASADO, PRESENTE Y ¿FUTURO?”

The Philosophy Department of the Universidad de Chile, in collaboration with the Department of Theory and History of Art, calls academics, undergraduates (with at least one year of training) and graduate students to participate in the International Congress Kant y el Criticismo. Pasado, presente y ¿futuro?. The meeting will take place on April 7-9, 2014.  

Celebrating the 290th anniversary of the Kants birth, this congress will provide an opportunity to reflect about the scope and projections of the German philosopher's opus in Western thought.

In order to present a paper, authors should send a 300 to 600-word abstract to kant.congreso@gmail.com before Friday October 25, 2013. The abstract may be framed into any of these following topics:

  • Ethics
  • Political Philosophy
  • Philosophy of Law
  • Metaphysics
  • Theory of Knowledge
  • Aesthetics
  • History of Philosophy
  • Epistemology
  • Philosophy of Science
  • Teleology

 

Also, there will be a moment for reflections about Kant and contemporary subjects: 

  • Latin American Philosophy
  • Phenomenology and Hermeneutics
  • Cognitive Science
  • Bioethics
  • Education
  • Cosmopolitism v/s Globalization
  • And others receptions of Kantian criticism (to be specified by the applicant)

 

In addition to the abstract, the email should contain the following information: 

  • The topic in the email subject
  •  A short bio or CV of the author, including academic affiliation and degrees (if appropriate).
  •  Contact information: email, phone number.

 

Selected authors will receive notification in November 2013, and must send complete papers before the 15th of March 2014.  The organizers are contemplating publication of the proceedings in electronic format, and of a selection of papers in hard print.
