CFP: The Limits of Consent: Reassessing Its Role as a Standard of Political Legitimacy

03 Nov 2026 1:58 AM | Anonymous

The Kantian Standing Group of the European Consortium for Political Research, chaired by Sorin Baiasu (University of Liverpool), has been awarded a workshop next year (1-4 June 2027) at the Joint Sessions in Trieste, Italy. The workshop (on ‘The Limits of Consent: Reassessing Its Role as a Standard of Political Legitimacy’) will be led by Nuria Sanchez Madrid (Complutense University of Madrid) and Sylvie Loriaux (University of Laval). For more details, see: ecpr.eu/Events/Event/WorkshopDetails/18075

It is worth mentioning the special format of the event: for each workshop, between 15 and 20 participants meet over 4 days to discuss pre-read papers with ample time for discussion allocated to each paper. This is an excellent starting point for joint publications and research projects.

If you have research interests in the topic, consider submitting a paper proposal or share this to encourage those with expertise in the topic to submit a proposal; deadline for submission is 14 December 2026. For details on how to submit, see: https://ecpr.eu/MyEcpr/Forms/PaperProposalForm.aspx

Finally, if you are not yet a member of the ECPR Kantian Standing Group, please join: it is free and easy. Go to: ecpr.eu/MyEcpr/Account/Create to create a new account, then login here: ecpr.eu/Login select My Groups (from MyECPR menu), find the Kantian Political Thought Standing Group and click ‘Join’. For any problems, get in touch with the Standing Group’s Membership Officer (Sebastian Orlander: sebastianorlander@gmail.com)
